Food and other unimportant things

It was bound to happen that I would dedicate almost an entire post to food. If that´s surprising to you, then we aren´t real friends.

A general rundown of my meals:

Breakfast: Eggs scrambled into a round, rubbery consistency along with some type of stale bread or cracker. As for drink, usually Maria sets out hot chocolate and fruit juice (usually fresh). Apparently Ecuadorians dont like their tea, hot chocolate, or coffee too hot so usually it´s just barely above room temp. (breakfast = not my favorite meal)

Lunch: First comes some kind of brothy soup, then a fresh salad, followed by the entre, which is usually some type of protien along with rice. Again, Ecuadorians don´t seem to like rice fully cooked..gr. As for drink, more fruit juice. This is typical of most meals you will find in restaurants here, like I said, they eat a lot.

Dinner: Usually the same as lunch, except they drink tea with dinner. Dinner seems to be a bit lighter, sometimes it´s just a tortilla (combo of eggs, potato, and other stuff)

There are a ton of American/foreign restaurants here, which are pretty good, yet a litte more pricey than other restaurantes. Typical meal - 7 bucks at these restaurants, but you can find dinner as cheap as 2 bucks at Ecuadorian restaurants. I actually haven´t gone to any ecuadorian places b/c they all seem dirty and not too appetizing.

Unimportant things:

You´ll probably see me on the internet quite a bit this week, I´m trying to get med school secondaries done and out of the way before I go to the Galaps. (I fly out Sunday morning!!)

Spanish class is going well, I think I´m improving.

On a scary note: My roommate was robbed at knife-point yesterday on her way back from work. What makes it scary is that it was during the day. She´s alright though, just out 10 dollars. No worries though, I won´t be going in that direction ever and my class is less than a 10 minute walk away from my apartment. (eaman and afsoon, you can leave this info out of you phone convo with mother later)

Tonight we´re going to gringoland to celebrate some chicks bday. Gringoland = restaurants and bars that are mostly frequented by tourists.

Later.
